Class Styles
Cassowary Coast Pilates offers a variety of classes for all bodies. We want everyone to know they can do Pilates, so check out below to find the right Class Style for you.
Introduction Class
If you’ve never used a Reformer machine before, we require clients to attend an Introductory class. It is the perfect starting point if you’re completely new to the machine or if you're returning from a long break, this is a great first class to remind yourself of your foundation.
This class is designed to build confidence in yourself and the machine, learning some fundamental exercises around others who are also at the same starting point.
You’ll be guided through the Reformer machine, learn foundational exercises and how to activate your pelvic floor and core muscles, and start to develop an understanding of essential Pilates principles. The session finishes with a gentle stretch and time for questions, so you walk away with the knowledge and confidence needed to move in Form and Power classes and continue building a strong Pilates practice.
After this 60 minute session, you’ll have the next 14 days to attend 4 Form classes using the $40 Beginners Offer.
Form Pilates (Reformer)
Form Classes are open to everyone and focus on building strong foundations through correct body alignment and precise movement. With an emphasis on technique and a more intentional pace, these classes help cultivate a deep mind–body connection.
You’ll leave feeling taller, stronger, and more connected, having worked through fundamental principles of Pilates—core, breath, control, precision, and stability.
This class is ideal for beginners, anyone seeking a pure Pilates experience, those who are working with old injuries or rehabbing something new, or anyone who simply wants to slow down and modify their practice to suit their body.
We offer modifications when required and plenty of attention and hands on support, allowing you to feel comfortable attending despite how long you have practiced, how many injuries you’re dealing with in your body or how new you are to the machines.
Power Pilates (Reformer)
Power Classes are designed for those who have been attending Pilates regularly and are ready to take their practice to the next level.
These classes focus on maintaining precise technique while increasing muscular challenge through heavier spring loads, added weight elements, and dynamic flows. You’ll still experience the Cassowary Coast Pilates you love—just with greater endurance, intensity, and focus for both body and mind.
Modifications are offered, but we want to move quicker, layer more intensely and have minimal set up time, so we recommend knowing how to modify for your injuries before coming to classes.
We do recommend completing at least six Form Classes to develop the mind–body connection needed for more intense work.
Expect a faster pace, fewer rest breaks and quicker transitions. Come prepared to work hard and feel strong.
Child Friendly Classes (Reformer)
Child-Friendly’s are Form classes that are open to everyone, while allowing parents and caregivers the chance to bring along their kids and still enjoy a workout.
We have space available to comfortably set your children up nearby so you can keep an eye on them. Please note that parents remain responsible for their children at all times, and our instructors’ primary focus will be on clients on the reformers.
All Child-Friendly Classes are suitable for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced movers.
Jumpboard Class
Jumpboard Classes come with a guarantee that you will you laugh, sweat and question what on earth is this leg burn, but leave you wanting more.
Bouncing off a padded board attached to the end of the Reformer, Jumpboard work feels like horizontal trampolining- mixing a heavy leg workout and lighter floating sensations that you will love.
A fun and effective way to boost heart rate and support bone density, all while moving in a controlled, supported environment. With plenty of low-impact options available, this class is suitable even for those who prefer not to “jump.”
It’s an excellent way to add variety to your usual Reformer routine while enjoying a dynamic yet low-impact cardio workout that’s easy on the joints and highly effective for muscle burn and enjoyment.
Our Jumpboard classes are designate at the end of each month for 2 or 3 classes a day, so clients can pick attendance around those times.
Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout designed to improve stability, strength, coordination, body awareness, and stamina.
Classes start with breath and balance work, moving to the floor and back with the intention to target all muscles in a range of movements, and finish off with deep stretch.
If you’re recovering from an injury, managing body issues or just new to Mat Pilates, you’ll find each class starts on an accessible base layer and adds movement progressions from there.
Mat Pilates is suitable for all bodies, so chat with your teacher if you’re experiencing any issues and we will make sure to check on you in class.
Bring your own mat or something soft to lie/kneel on and a waterbottle, especially in those warmer months.
